Standing is a macOS menu bar app that helps you notice when you've been
sitting or standing too long. This policy explains what data the app
uses and where it goes.
What Standing uses
Camera — short still frames from your Mac's camera to
decide sit vs stand. Frames are processed locally for motion gating;
when a posture check is worthwhile, a small JPEG may be sent to
TypeSafe's Jev image API using your API key.
API key — your TypeSafe key is stored only on your
Mac (Application Support / Keychain depending on build). Standing does
not receive or store your key on a Standing server.
Local stats — sit/stand times, calibration images,
and logs stay on your Mac under Application Support and Logs (or the
App Sandbox container for Mac App Store builds).
What we don't do
No Standing account, no cloud sync of your posture history.
No advertising SDKs, no cross-app tracking, no sale of personal data.
No continuous video upload — checks run on motion or a slow heartbeat.
Third parties
Posture classification uses
TypeSafe Jev
when you supply an API key. Their handling of uploaded images is governed
by TypeSafe's own terms and privacy policy. You control the key and can
clear it anytime in Settings.
Optional one-time support via Buy Me a Coffee opens in your browser and
is not required to use Standing.
Permissions
Camera — posture checks (you can deny; tracking won't work).
Notifications — sit/stand nudges (optional).
Network — only to call TypeSafe when a check runs with your key.
Children
Standing is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly
collect their data.
